Why Bob Dylan Actually SUCKS...LOCATION: Uncle Dan's , Austin, TXYEAR: 2006TAGS: Best Songwriter, Bob Dylan, Best American ArtistPUBLISHED: July 10, 2008Poet? Folk singer? Rock 'n' Roll Pioneer? Chameleon? Nah, more like one of the worst songwriters of our time. I needn't mention how he has one of the worst voices of our time either. Newsflash: The guy's a total poser! He's a complete tool! Just kidding, Bob Dylan is actually my favorite American artist of all-time. He is indeed a chameleon which (deep down inside) is why he hates being labeled, and rightly so. He has outlasted everyone else from the 60's as far as still managing to make great albums goes. My uncle Danny was introducing me to the beauty that is vinyl. I was only familiar with Bob Dylan's greatest hits. For those who love Dylan, we all know that "best of Dylan" compilations could never suffice since the only compilation that WOULD suffice would be an 18-disc set that includes maybe 15 of his actual albums...Moving on, when "Stuck Inside of Mobile With The Memphis Blues Again" came on - it sounded beautifully chaotic to me at first before Dylan even started his stream-of-consciousness non-sensical (pretty much) talk-singing. The imagery that Dylan effortlessly manages to conjure up with his cryptic lyrics on this song (and many others) just makes me smile and ponder what kind of drugs he must've been taking at this time (not to condone acid or anything). Surely he was laughing out loud in anticipation that some idiots from the press would make this song out to be more important than it actually was and that Dylan actually intended for it to have deep meaning. Which brings me to my opinion of what Bob's main goal has always been: to make good music. He was emphatic about how a lot of his work wasn't autobiographical. He just wanted to write great songs! Think about it, other than listening to "Blood On The Tracks" and the song "Sara" from "Desire" - do you really learn much about Dylan as a person? No. Even his songs with "cryptic lyrics" that don't make any sense are great. How many artists do you listen to make you go "Whoa, that's a great line!" even though you have no idea what it means? For me, the number of artists that do that to me are very few - but Dylan does it repeatedly. BUT YOU'D BE MORE INTERESTED IN HEARING SOME IDIOT SAY "BOB DYLAN SUCKS" RIGHT? CUZ THAT'D JUST BE HILARIOUSLY INCORRECT! -hmd1987 Other Jamsbio entries of mine: just look in the top right corner and read all about other artists that I find to be quite sucky. I like to pimp the music of a friend of mine with this link here, so what? Who asked you?! p>

Eric said: Thank you for this article, I get so sick and tired of people saying "Bob Dylan sucks" without really even listening to him. Its the same when I put on a nice classical record and somebody goes "Turn this off, it sucks". The first record I heard was Self Portrait when I was five. And I was hooked. When I was a teenager I found that my claim to fame was having the same birthday as Dylan. (7/23/2008)
