The Downfall of IntellectLOCATION: Pony-League Baseball , HoustonYEAR: 1999TAGS: Where Are They Now, Nookie, nookie, Fred Durst, VH1, Limp Bizkit, MTV, limp bizkitPUBLISHED: July 23, 2008The year was '99. Y2K was on the verge of destroying civilization (kinda like man-made global warming is now) while one band fearlessly took pride in making young people dumber, I was one of those young people. The poetic genius of Fred Durst had some how managed to rhyme the word "nookie" with "cookie". It's bewildering to think of the shite (with an "e") that I listened to when I was young. What's more bewildering is that two of the older fellas on the team got into an argument about "Nookie" while in the dug-out. They were basically arguing over what "Nookie" meant. Nary a more philosophical discussion have I heard of. Anyway, I think we lost the game. We weren't too focused obviously, but at least we were cool. (?) The trend of "being-dumb-is-cooler-and-less-pompous" became the social norm from this point forward. Though movies like 'Clueless' were responsible for starting the snowball effect years earlier; ultimately we have "Oh-I-remember-that-crappy-song" songs like this that shaped the intellect of the youth for the worst. Some how I managed to reverse the "dumb-is-the-new-cool" syndrome for myself, but Limp Bizkit had done it's deed. They opened the floodgates for bands like Nickelback to come in; dance all around the intellect of our nation and go "cock-rock-a-doodle-doo." Oh well, at least Limp Bizkit's edgy brand of rap-rock is dead...for now. No, Limp Bizkit is not solely responsible for the downfall of intellect...But they were certainly a major factor. To summarize for all you product-of-bizkit-idiots out there: Limp Bizkit made it cool to be dumb thanks to Fred Durst. -hmd1987 P.S. Wes Borland truly was the only good thing about ol' Limp Bizkit. What truely made Limp Bizkit suck was Fred Durst, and it's not pretentious or pseudo-intellectual to give your two-cent-opinion on any thing. My opinion is not superior to anyone else's opinion - if you think Limp Bizkit is good - so be it! Other Jamsbio entries of mine: just look in the top right corner and read all about other artists that I find to be quite sucky. Now what makes you curious enough to click HERE?

hahhahahahha "one easily avoidable package". see at least you could smell LB's stupidity, and at least your baseball comrades were doing a clever play-on-words with "The Wall" by Pink Floyd, an actual good band you know? Sigh, a lot of kids my age haven't even heard of Radiohead for pete's sake. (7/24/2008)

By the way, the word is "myself", "its" isn't the same word as "it's", and you misspelled "truly". (8/12/2008)

I thought it would have tried a little harder than it did to probe into WHY they sucked: lyrically, musically, socially. But nope, it simply says "they sucked", drops a "nary" and walks away.

hmmmm. you must be right. i'm a terrible author. i mean, let's just ignore the fact that the top 4 jamsbio submissions of this week are all 4 of my jamsbio submissions that i've made so far.
i make my entries short-and-sweet. and i did actually say why Limp Bizkit sucked - Fred Durst's stupid/cheesey lyrics and fake-ass-i'm-a-tough-guy- yet-i'm-a-little-girl persona.
what's more refreshing is that you haven't even entered a jamsbio entry your self. "poser" and "hack" are words that come to mind. (8/12/2008)

I think the fact that the top 4 submissions are your submissions ("that you made so far," as you so astutely stated) speaks volumes to the overall quality of the blogs on this site and the intellect of the audience.

haha, i like you. but the fact of the matter
is there are MUCH MUCH BETTER WRITERS THAN I; who've posted brilliant blogs in the biolog section.
you've confused my jamsbio entry with a blog...
you truely are a troll.

I for one think you hit the nail spot on. What kind of article is this? Just bitching about some has-been group, without even getting to the point.
@hmd1987: Just because you wrote four articles that people like, doesn't mean you give quality. Let's go rampant on what you say: 'dumbing down is cool' (which goes along the right path, but not exactly the case), so many people liked LB (FYI, I liked him too, I just put the band in perspective and know they aren't worth very much artistically). But if dumbing down is the hype, your appeal to your large audience isn't worth anything. Who says you aren't another Limp Bizkit?
The case as I see it: it has become socially acceptable or even standard to be dumb. I don't blame it on music, but rather on our whole popularized semi-cultural scene. When kids grow up, they watch TV (be it MTV Cribs or something else) and what they see is not-so-smart-people making lots of money, living in a house with 5 cars, basketball court, etc. What did these people do to get all that? They didn't seem to have needed any education, so why bother to get educated. I 'm not saying any person in particular is to blame for this but rather that the media put a rather skewed image out to youngsters: get an eating disorder (become a model and get rich), be in a gang (become rap star and get rich), ...
Also we have some good quality artists, but what quality is, is for any one for himself to decide. I still like LB, just for the sake of nostalgia, same with lots of bad numbers from nineties. Is it that hard to see that although for some some songs the artistic value is slim to none, their entertainment value can be high and should be considered as such: 'don't overthink everything' entertainment. If you think that is a shame, I'd like to convince you with movies: most movies nowadays are completely unrealistic (be it in a social, scientific or any other way). Do you hate movies, I presume you have also got some movies you like which do not stand up to par with realism. But do you cry about dumbing down the masses with movies? (8/13/2008)

You've basically labeled the entire jamsbio community "stupid" for enjoying reading a funny article. Maybe you're even attacking me b/c you think I'm cocky or high on my self; i'm not. Maybe you're just hatin' b/c you can get away w/ it on the net. You have no right to give your opinion if you haven't even submitted a jamsbio entry. You literally are a product of Limp Bizkit, now please leave. (8/13/2008)
