It's A Family Thing

There are probably millions of memories about "Bohemian Rhapsody". In fact, everyone has some form of memory attached to a Queen song. How can anyone pass up the amazing vocals of Freddie Mercury, the guitar stylings of Brian May and the drumming of Roger Taylor. Queen was a genius band. They'll go down in history as one of the best bands ever, alongside The Beatles, Elvis Presley, Little Richard, The Beach Boys.

My uncle (who is married to my aunt) goes on a trip with his family almost every year. Every once in a while, I'll tag along since I have nothing better to do. Because Queen is such an amazing band, we're always jamming out to them in the car. "Fat Bottomed Girls," "Bicycle," "Bohemian Rhapsody." All these songs have memories of those car rides attached to them.

Waynes World made the headbanging to "Bohemian Rhapsody" famous. My aunt, two cousins and myself recreate the scene from the movie when driving 60 down the highway. Each of us have a part attached to us. Each smililng from ear to ear, knowing we'll miss these days as we move on with our lives. We've gone off annually, and each year, that song, that recreation, that memory.

It's sad I have more memories with music with my aunt and her family than I do with my mom and my father. "Bohemian Rhapsody" makes me smile with the pastoral feelings I wish to retain forever. I don't ever want to forget those times because those are what brought my cousins and myself closer together. It's what made us so loyal to each other. I'm proud of my achievement in family.

As my cousin left for MIT, and I'm about to leave for college myself, I'm worried we shall never go on one of those trips again. That though consumes me, and makes me want to take another trip down to the beach- Florida, or even South Padre Island.
