They struggled on the local scene for years, and it was obvious they were about to break the confines of the lowcountry. It was also the first and last time I'd sit next to Darius Rucker at the bar during a break and make casual conversation.
The next time I saw Darius in person was ten years later at East Cooper Airport in Mount Pleasant, SC, where he was walking towards a private plane awaiting him and his hot companion ... most likely headed someplace warm and breezy.
