My closest friend and I have extremely similar tastes in music. When I started listening to Morning Musume almost non-stop, so did she. When she tried to introduce me to Modest Mouse, I... was pretty much like "What on God's green earth is this?" And finally, when I heard Coldplay and fell slightly in love, she fell with me.

Now, my first song was The Scientist, with Clocks following shortly after. And you know everybody loves Clocks, except for one person I saw on this site who is really, really jealous of just how much money Chris Martin makes. So we would stay up 'til all hours of the night, listening to Clocks on a constant loop and talking about whatever easily amused thirteen-year-olds like to talk about. I don't know what that is. It's been awhile.

So here it comes — half the time? We could not understand a word Chris Martin was saying. This considerably hindered our ability to shout lyrics back and forth at each other, a true art form of people who get really obsessed with songs. And this is how we ended up with "Yoooooo ohhhhhhh!", as opposed to, you know... "You are." And it took way, way too long for us to figure out that it actually was "you are," long enough for our interpretation of sorts to stick.

Every time I go to a Coldplay concert, when Clocks comes on, I kind of mumble "yooooo ohhhhh" under my breath for my friend, who will never be able to see them due to shitty circumstances. Just to keep the legend strong and all, maybe act like she's there in spirit or something. I miss her a little.
