Crazy?

The first time I ever heard this song was when I was alone in the car with the radio playing. My mother was in the store and I had opted to continue to listen to music. Flipping through the FM channels this song caught my attention. Coming into the middle I had no idea who sung it or even what it was called. However I continued to listen to the very end, whole-heartedly enjoying it.

It is common for me to become obsessed with a song for a while and hardly listen to anything else. Friday I am in Love instantly became one of these songs. However I could not find it anywhere.

I continued to bring up this song, asking anyone and everyone I felt might have a clue. However, no one seemed to know and all thought I was rather crazy. They began to say that I was crazy (in a joking way of course).

One day while I was in the car, for that seems to be the only place it played, the song came on once more. I started to yell that this was the song that I had been telling them about. This was my song!!! My friend Tess turned to me and said, “ Oh, this song. I know this song. Why didn’t you just say it was this one? It is Friday I am in Love by The Cure.”

This song is now filed away forever in my music memory, a part of me. I love its lyrics, its melody, and the memories I associate with it.
