My Family at it's best

I saw this 'Greatest Hits' album instore 2 years ago and dipped into my rent money to purchase it. Sheryl Crow is one of my Sister's favourite artists, and she used to always play this song. In 1996 I was 13yrs old and my Sister moved into my neighbourhood, she was now literrally a hop skip and jump away. This was huge for me, because I loved her to death, and I had never really had a chance to know her well, as she was technically a half sister from my dad's previous marriage, and was much older then us. But, now she was here, I was finally able to see her all the time. To actually experience being an Uncle, and to feel connected to that larger family.

I remember this 1 day so vividly. Our entire Family was at my sister's for a Barbeque, we were stuffed to the brim on Sauseges, Tomato sauce and white bread. I had just finished playing about 20 rounds of cricket with my little bro and niedes and nephews, and I'd come inside to help my sister clean up. She had some Bon Jovi playing, and i started singing along as i dryed a plate.. and i was so caught up in the song I dropped the plate. I was so upset, I'd broken my Sister's plate, how could I do that... I started to cry. My Sister grabbed me and hugged me tight, "It's alright mate, It's alright..." She gave me a coy smile and grabbed another plate and smashed it herself, I cracked a smile instantly and held back a giggle. "This is a happy day, don't worry about a bloody plate. C'mon lets dance". She went over and put Sheryl Crow's "All i wanna do" on,  and we went and danced for what seemed like hours. I had a big Sister, I had a family who loved me, I was home.

The thing about my older brother's and sisters is they have a lot of drug problems, and really having them all together in the one place like, all talking to each other, and having a good time was really a once in a million day. My brother had a motorbike accident soon after, he has brain damage now and has never been the same. My Sister got together with an abusive boyfriend and her Pot addiction stepped up a notch after that, and my other brother started injecting Heroin soon after that party. This was really the first and last time I ever got to see my family so together and Happy. I love this album, and it always reminfs me of this day. Hopefully it will never let me forget.
