My Best Friend

My best friend in college was Melissa. We would do everything together and would always act silly. Some of our favorite times were just sitting around, watching TV, eating snacks and joking around. When we got old enough to go to the bars, we liked going out on karaoke nights and singing funny songs. One of our favorite songs was “Build me up Buttercup” because everyone in the bar would know the worlds and sing along with us. Also, it was an easy song to sing, and a person didn’t need to have an awesome voice to sing it.

One night, we decided to go to an event on campus where people could make their own music videos. Melissa and I looked through the whole book of songs we were allowed to sing for the video, but we just couldn’t come up with anything we liked. We didn’t want to embarrass ourselves and sing something too extravagant because we didn’t have the best voices. All of a sudden, Melissa suggested that we sing the song we always like to do, “Build me up Buttercup!” I just laughed at her because I totally forgot about that song.

We ended up singing that song in our video while acting goofy and having fun. The video was so cheesy because we stood in front of a green screen while we sang. When we watched the video, we noticed that fireworks were going off behind us and a bunch of other silly scenes. I still have that video today and watch it when I need a good laugh.
