A ravishing album from a perfect band, The Band. The Band's "last waltz" took place on a Thanksgiving Day in 1976. Maybe that's what has got me thinking about The Band today. Maybe that fact is socked away somewhere in my memory and I found myself craving to hear the voices of The Band. Hearing the opening of "Tears of Rage" always takes me back to a moment I suddenly realized I had so much to get to know about my man, and that time was going to go fast upon falling in love.

So strange that The Band's music, which is indescribably laid back feeling, can make life seem alternately fleeting, or somehow eternal. Garth Hudson's shimmering, to sometimes gritty, organ playing swirls by like comets and shooting stars, send me... and Levon Helm's drumming...oh my, what's not to love about it? So now I live in a pink house--and I'd like to think that where I've set up house, with the man who introduced me to The Band, has something to do with Music from Big Pink.
