Shinystar | MEMORY FROM 1992

As a kid..

LOCATION: Home, Atlanta GA

YEAR: 1992

TAGS: Them Bones

PUBLISHED: February 12, 2008

As a kid I remember my brother blasting his crazy grunge music. At the time I did not really understand the era, but it was a milestone for rock and roll and grunge for that matter. He would blast Alice in Chains after getting home from school. I remember yelling at him to turn it down, funny because now I have it in heavy rotation in my CD player. It's a classic, period.

Them bones is one of those songs that pulls you in back in time to when grunge was popular. Although the lead singer is no longer around, his legacy continues to live on. Similiar to Nirvana, who was also a grunge band that was huge in the 90's. When I look back on this song it characterizes more recently some dark times in my life. Whenever I feel depressed I put some Alice in and I'm guaranteed to feel worst. I know it sounds negative, but with music there is always an escape, and that is what Alice in Chains has been for me.
