Is Eminem dead?

It was early in the summer and we decided it was the perfect night to grill hot dogs for dinner. When my better half went to start the grill however, he realized we had run out of gas. As we are likely to do, we decided to head down to the hardware store together to get a refill canister.

As usual, he was driving and was doing what I do best - speed dialing through the radio stations looking for something good. Finally we ended up on a station I'd never heard before that was playing The Real Slim Shady. While neither of us are huge Eminem fans, we both enjoy a few of his songs, that one included.

Much to my chagrin however, the song was nearly over. It ended while we were at a stop light and after a brief second of silence the song started up again. We turned and stared at one another quizically for a second.

"Oops, DJs gonna get in trouble," I said sing-songingly. I was surprised they didn't cut the song off and put on what was supposed to be on instead. By this point we had arrived at the hardware store and headed into the store.

I still thought it was a bit odd that that had happened, but I let it go. We got the canister for the grill and hopped back into the car for a side trip to the grocery store for some soda.

Lo and behold, the song was still playing. At this point there was no way it was the same one we had left the car to... but there it was The Real Slim Shady, again. At this point we were both very confused. I mused that maybe he had died and this was their bizarre tribute to him... just playing his one song over and over and over.

Even though we'd already heard the song four times or so, we couldn't turn it off. We just hoped they were going to say what was going on! Finally after hearing the song once or twice more they had a commercial - the radio station was switching formats in 48 hours and they were playing that single song the entire time until it happened.

I can't help but have a little giggle whenever I hear that song now... their little radio stunt had convinced me that Eminem was dead.
