A horrible ChristmasLOCATION: in the car , Somewhere in PennsylvaniaYEAR: 1989TAGS: accident, blizzard, sad songPUBLISHED: April 24, 2008We were going to spend Christmas at my uncle's house in Pennsylvania, leaving Friday night after my father picked me up from my mother's house. It was a horrendous blizzard and the normal 3.5 hour trip ended up taking us more than double that. We were getting on an on-ramp somewhere in Pennsylvania when an 18-wheeler lost control and started swerving toward our car. I was deeply enthralled and becoming more and more saddened by the lyrics of this song on the radio when I realized what was going on. Fortunately the truck was able to regain control and the accident was averted, there was a moment however, when we were all terrified as to what laid ahead. The remainder of the ride went much more smoothly, but was still such slow going. By the time we arrived at my uncle's home it was so far beyond my bedtime I could barely drag myself out of the car and into the guest bedroom. I spent the rest of the weekend sick and miserable, crashed out on the couch.
