A crush 20 years too late

While my classmates all had crushes on Jordan, Joey, Donnie and the other New Kids on the Block or the members of Bon Jovi, I was sitting at home dreaming of my crush, Fang, the bass player for Paul Revere & the Raiders.

Growing up I lived for the music of the 60s, from the one hit wonders like Question Mark and the Mysterians and Zager and Evans to the band of the generation, The Beatles. It was all I listened to and thanks to my mother's old collection of 16 magazines with Beatles articles, it was all I read about too.

I poured through the magazines regularly, learning all about Dino, Desi and Billy, Sonny and Cher and of course, the Fab Four. In those pages, I found articles on Paul Revere & the Raiders, a band I always enjoyed. Before I knew it, I was looking for articles specifically about them.

And, just as quickly as I found those articles, I developed a full-blown crush on Phil "Fang" Volk... a guy that in the real world would be nearly old enough to be my grandfather.
