My First Introduction to the Beatles

I can't deny that I absolutely love the Beatles, and I always will. Even though I was born shortly after John Lennon died, my Mom introduced me to the Beatles at a young age. This is one of the first Beatles' songs that I remember. Even though my love for the Beatles waned while I was in high school, I delved deeper into their work while I was in college. It was then that I truly became a seasoned Beatles fan.

I remember my parents having an argument about the Beatles around this time too. It was then that I asked my Mom what the Beatles were. She explained how they were a very important music group from the 1960s. I could tell then that that was a major understatement, and I could also tell how much she loved the Beatles. Over the next few years, she shared that love with me.

Later, while I was in college, this became a favorite Beatles song of mine (then again, I have many, many favorite Beatle songs). When I was 20, I finally say the movie "Help!," which features the song "Ticket to Ride." Along with the movie "A Hard Days Night," "Help!" gave me a new appreciation for their talents. Quite simply, I can't think of another band that appeared to have so much fun making movies.

While it is obvious now that the Beatles will always be with us in some form or another, it wasn't always so. John, Paul, George, and Ringo didn't set out to become beyond famous. They simply sought success by doing what they loved - songwriting, singing, performing for audiences, making movies, and having fun. It is impossible to say how much music they influenced in the later half of the 20th century and even today.
