A sold out show of 5,000 turned out to cheer the then up and coming chica caliente Shakira. And it was my first date with my very own chica caliente who would later become my wife Jennifer - an exotic green-eyed Venezuelan I met through my roommate (her cousin) whose family she was visiting. Shakira mesmerized me and so did Jennifer. It was a concert from and for the heart in more ways than one. The crowd stood reverently absorbed at times, and at others, wildly adoring. It was obvious, this starlet was heading for the big time. When I hear a song from Shakira's Pies Descalzos it reminds me of the courtship with my wife and my discovery of the passion of Latin America women - be they Venezuelan, Colombian or other. Here's a strange thing: I just found out that February 2nd is Shakira's birthday. It's also the day we got married.
