Exploring U2 Territory

It was the first of many experiences for me on this trip. I am a young student (still am, at 23!) and I am on this semester long educational stay in London, England. St. Patrick's Day is around the corner, and what's a better way to celebrate than to go to Ireland! Not knowing where this trip would take me, what opportunities awaited me, I just booked the first tickets I could find online, got a good group together and we all made our journey out to the land of green. Being a U2 fan for most of my life; I have adored them ever since I was handed my first CD, POP! It was love at first listen. Back to the subject at hand, the main point of this story is that, my friends and I were walking around Central Ireland and looking for a place to go and get a good meal and a good drink. We happened to travel down this lonely alley way and stumble upon a record store that sold all of U2's classic hits labels! I thought, this is heaven right here, I might as well just die right here, right now. Duh! Ireland, the beginning of the band, the hometown, Dublin. But what really caught me was the picture on the wall. It was the first picture U2 ever took together as a band, or so as the record store owner claims. The good old days of Sunday Bloody Sunday and POP itself. And it was taken in that very alley! I thought, it's a sign! I was meant to be here, I was supposed to come down this alley way, and I am going to recreate this shot, with my group! Of course, when you're U2 you can get a crowd to clear up and get a decent shot, but even though we didn't get a perfect shot, at least we were there, and we sat where U2 did at their beginning and their launch of fame. It was surreal! This memory willstay and last with me forever, and I thank U2 forthis, for the ambition, for thedrive, for just being the best band that has actually stayed together for such a long time and created so many great albums. You guys rock man, and just keep on rocking! I wanted to share my story because I know there are a lot like mine out there, U2 fans rock!
