The Tear That Hangs Inside My Soul ForeverLOCATION: Boston , MAYEAR: 2007TAGS: jeff buckley, musicPUBLISHED: March 15, 2008Jeff Buckley is one of those artists that somehow reaches up through your heart and into your soul when you listen to his music. I still to this day can’t even comprehend how somehow could have written such beautiful, moving lyrics and sing them like an angel. Every time I listen to him, I am in awe. It’s such a shame when talented musicians die so young, because then most people never get the chance to see them do their magic live.
About two years ago, a friend of mine made me a mix CD and Buckley’s “Last Goodbye” was one of the songs on it. I thought the song was alright, but soon after I found it everywhere I went. All my friends somehow knew the song and local bands would cover the song during their performances. Suddenly, I started hearing about Jeff Buckley everywhere. My favorite musician was often compared to him, the girl I worked with was in love with him, he was everywhere I looked. So I started listening to more of his music, figuring he had to be good if so many people loved his music.
Then, I heard “Lover, You Should’ve Come Over.”
It’s strange because right now, the song doesn’t bring back memories for me, but it’s one of those songs that I know in ten years, I’ll listen to and it will bring back memories of this time in my life.
This song is literally one of the most beautiful songs ever written. The lyrics are so inspiring and poetic that it still makes me want to cry for no apparent reason whenever I listen to it.
“It's never over,
Music hasn’t been quite the same since.
