Annual FiestaLOCATION: Boston , MAYEAR: 2002TAGS: Black Crowes, ConcertPUBLISHED: February 17, 2008I don't really know how it all began, but somehow over time, The Black Crowes became the #1 band in my hometown. It's kind of like when a nickname for someone has been around for so long that you forget where it even originated from. It got to the point that at every house party you attended, someone, somewhere, was blasting the Black Crowes. Every local band in the South Shore would cover numerous Black Crowes songs when they played shows. And every year, when the Black Crowes came to town, it was a giant party. Carload after carload would follow each other to the show. The funny thing was, I barely even knew some of the people that we were following. But we all had one common goal: to see the Robinson boys do their thing. My friend Jen, who is the 4th member of our crew of best friends (besides Liz, Erin and I), would always repeat the same line before every concert: "I hope they play 'Girl From A Pawnshop'. That's my favorite!" And sure enough, at just about every show, they would play it. I'd watch Jen's eyes light up as soon as the first chords began, and she'd start screaming at the top of her lungs. Gotta love Crowes fans. The annual tradition still continues. The Crowes are coming to play in Boston next month. So once again, we'll follow the line of cars to the show, have a few cocktails beforehand, and anticipate the performance of 'Girl From A Pawnshop.'
