Working Out Is Where the Love Is At

LOCATION: BYU Gym , Provo, UT

YEAR: 2004

TAGS: fitness, Sophomore year, Mars

PUBLISHED: April 21, 2008

Jevonne was my roommate's older sister, and I always wanted to be as strong as she was. She ran marathons, lifted weights, and could kill the guys in basketball. I was always mediocre, and she was the expert. I remember one summer in particular I decided to go and work out with my roommate Mars and her sister. We were doing an intense training session in the BYU gym including some killer seven arm moves. Then we sat down on the mats to do ab work, and Jevonne taught me one of the most effective ab workouts I've ever done. She taught me to the song "Where is the Love" by Black Eyed Peas because of the perfect beat it had. Up, twist, up, twist, and back down. The constant beat in the background kept me moving. I put that song on my IPOD as soon as I got home and make sure that it is always in my workout jams.
