London Bridges Falling Down

LOCATION: Gold's Gym , Provo, UT

YEAR: 2007

PUBLISHED: April 25, 2008

I started a weight training class that summer to try and get stronger. I had the endurance/cardio portion of fitness down but had never really lifted weights. I’d seen the power pump classes and was actually really afraid to try it. I’d heard horror stories of how hard they were and how nobody could finish everything. I finally faced my fear though and went to my first power pump class, and the horror stories were true. I’ve never been that sore in my life, and I had no chance to actually do everything they did in the class. It was one of the most grueling hours of my entire life, but I felt stronger afterwards. I remember in particular in the middle of the class when I was feeling ready to put my weights down and go home that we started a new set of arm exercises and the song “London Bridges” came on. It completely changed my mood as the song pumped to the beat in the background. It made it so much easier to lift those weights from my chest into the air. I won’t say that I did much better the rest of the class, but I made it through because of the upbeat “London Bridges.”
