Kicking Make a Bad Impression

LOCATION: Ashburn Stake Center , Ashburn, VA

YEAR: 2000

TAGS: dances, high school, church

PUBLISHED: April 25, 2008

For three summers in a row, I went to every single stake dance there was. Some days there were only 10 of us and other times there were hundreds. Without fail, every dance I went to they played the song "Knock on Wood," and for some reason it never got old. Everyone in the entire gym would join in and dance to "Knock on Wood" including the guys that normally stood on the walls and didn't dance at all. They would dance to "Knock on Wood" because it wasn't really dancing; it was kicking in a circle and bouncing up and down. You may not be able to dance, but you can definitely kick. Most of the girls stayed in their own circles on the outskirts of the middle kicking group, but I always tried to jump in and kick along with the guys; it just looked like more fun. So now every time this song comes on, even when other people dance normally, I always start kicking then quickly stop when everyone looks at me funny. I guess it was just a stake dance thing.
