Homecoming Heaven

My senior year was an interesting one. I was going back and forth between two guys all year long- Mike and Justin. I went to Mike's homecoming with him and asked Justin to come with me to mine. I'd planned the entire thing out and asked him with one of those weird and awkward candy posters that said things like, "I think you're grand (with a 100 grand)," and silly things like that. That's the kind of person I was in high school. He came out after reading the poster, gave me a huge hug, and said that of course he'd go with me. The night finally came, and I don't think I've ever been so nervous in my life. It was our first "date." We went to Rain Forest Cafe with a group of friends from the ward, and everyone ordered Volcanoes for dessert. The waiters would bring out these huge chocolate volcanoes with a sparkler in the middle and yell out "volcano." Justin was two years younger than me and didn't have a car so I drove. During our drive to dinner and our drive back to the dance, we heard the song "Heaven" by DJ Sammy three times. It was one of the years most popular songs I guess. We went into the dance and had the time of our lives. I'd never been to a dance with someone I liked before and loved being there with him. He just made me feel beautiful. One of the first slow songs to come on was the song "Heaven" yet again. I think that was the fourth time we heard the song. We both just laughed and slow danced through the entire thing. We ended up hearing that song three more times that night before I dropped him off and deemed it the song of the night. Probably the closest I got to heaven any time during my high school career was that Homecoming night.
