Our entire family went to DisneyWorld in October for a couple of different reasons. My immediate family was planning a trip and then my aunt and uncle's family decided to come along. Eventually, everyone decided to come along. My aunt Kori was about to go on a mission so we decided to turn the trip into a farewell for her as well. The night before we went home, we did kind of a Kori roast and told stories and sang songs about her. We actually made up an entire Weird Al style medly where we replaced the lyrics to songs with our own and sang them in the correct melody. Everyone laughed and had a great time. Right near the end of the song we decided to add a portion right near the end of Les Miserables where the deceased are singing together, "Take my hand" In our song medly, I started to sing the first couple of lines of the song, "Take my hand and lead me to salvation." My aunt Kaysi joined in with me on the next line as we sang, "Take my love for love is everlasting," and then my entire family joined in the final few lines, "And remember, a truth that once was spoken. To love another person is to see the face of God." I've never been so touched by something than by when my family joined to sing that song together. Every time I hear the recording of our Kori medly, this song still hits me so strong because of the love each and every one of us feels for each other. I love this portion of Les Mis, and this song in particular because of the power it had for me that night as I sang it with my family.
