I was going to see Ferry Corsten. One way or another. He was playing in DC October 21 and I was determined not to miss it, even if it meant shelling out all my money and taking the train. I was not yet driving at this point.

Anybody who listens to trance knows who Ferry Corsten is, but for the rest of you, he comes from the Netherlands and is one of the top DJs/dance artistsin the world, headlining at the world's top clubs and festivals for audiences of thousands every night, an award winning producer with hundreds of remixes and original tracks to his name, loved by millions of clubbers and dance musicfans across the globe. I am mad for him.

I was getting desperate. The show was drawing near, and it looked like I wasnt gonna get to go. My dad didnt want me riding the train by myself, so he and my mom planned a getaway to DC that weekend. He would drop me off at the club. Okay, not cool in any way, but I was gonna see Ferry so why not?

It was the second time I'd been to Fur. Over the DJ booth in the main room hung a humongous banner with the cover of Ferry's recent LEF album on it. Pete Moutso, one of the ruling lords of the DC club scene, opened for Ferry, and I loved his set. Then, Ferry was introduced on the microphone, and the place went nuts.

I danced for 7 hours without stopping once. I wish I could tell you about the music, but the truth is, it was so loud I could not hear a thing, and that was when I decided never to go clubbing again without earplugs. I seem to remember hearing LEF and Watch Out, but the rest is a blur of bright lights, lasers, and ringing ears. It was wonderful nonetheless, and when he ended his set the audience screamed their little heads off. He played a short encore before finishing.

I had lost my cell phone to my astonishment, and I stayed behind after the main room cleared out to look for it. I noticed a small crowd over by the DJ booth and went over to investigate. There were people taking pictures, and there was Ferry. The actual Ferry Corsten, not more than 3 people in front of me. I waved and called to him but he did not notice. I waited not so patiently. I was actually going to meet him. I tried hard to contain my excitment. Finally it was my turn. He was right in front of me, speaking to someone. I reached out and put my hand on his. "Ferry." I was talking to him, I was touching him. He looked at me. "Youre my favorite DJ. I was so excited about seeing you tonight." He smiled at me. I put my arms around his neck. "I love you so much. Thank you." I pressed my lips to his neck and gave him a big smooch. I pulled away. He had a huge grin. "Thank you for your music." He nodded at me. I walked away, feeling like I was floating.

He is certainly the most famous person I have ever met. I will never forget that even when I am an old woman, and kissing Ferry Corsten has to count for something, besides me being a groupie I mean.
