I had just started college, majoring in music. I went to a meeting of the music club in the classrom that afternoon. While there I saw Tashay and Latina. I had talked to them maybe once before. I had a copy of a free local publication I loved that specialized in the ridiculous and amusing. It had an ad on the back for Mardi Gras night at Club Catch 22. I had the brilliant idea that the three of us should go together. None of us had ever been to a club before, and the ad said there was going to be a foam party too. We'd seen those on TV and had always wanted to go to one.

I got dressed in my cutest outfit and waited for my friends to arrive to pick me up. We all lived in different parts ofRichmond so it was going to take a while to get everyone together. My mom started freaking out about how I was too young to go to a club. (I was 19 or 20)

They arrived and we drove to downtown Richmond. We had Q94 on and they were broadcasting live from Catch 22; apparently this was a big event. We got there and showed our IDs. We were all under 21 so our hands were marked with a big X.

Only the dorks go to the clubs before 11, but we didnt know that and got there about 9:30. We sat at a table. Nobody was there yet and we were bored.Across from us at another table were two guys. One of the guys was gorgeous. I commented to Tashay and Latina how hot this guy was, and Tashay dared me to ask him to dance. So I did. His name was Paul, and his friend's name was John.

We sat at our table and traded beads, and did the tasks on the Deeds For Beads cards on the tables which involved the boys hitting on the ladies who now filled the club. We had a lively conversation about school and life.

I danced with Paul all night. He was so gorgeous, and a great dancer.

The foam party was a blast, and I remember dancing to this song in the foam being sprayed all over the dance floor.

We left at 1ish as we all had early classes the next day. We got in the car. Tashay yelled, "You guys, that was so much fun!" We screamed in response.

I never saw Paul or Latina again, and Tashay only once after that. Catch 22 closed in 2005.
