Nirvana was my Favorite BandLOCATION: Everywhere , TorontoYEAR: 1994TAGS: grunge, Nirvana, Dave Grohl, Kurt CobainPUBLISHED: April 23, 2008I was too young to have really been into Nirvana when they were still around. I do remember the day Kurt Cobain died because I went to my dad's store and some of his employees were talking about it, but I didn't really know who he was. I learned about Nirvana in 1994 when I first became really interested in music. The first CD I ever bought was the Beavis and Butthead Experience, and of course Nirvana had their original song on it. That was the first Nirvana song I ever remember hearing. So by learning about them through that album, I went out and bought this one. I absolutely became obsessed with Nirvana, and I think the fact that Kurt was already gone just fueled my interest. I had books on them and bought all of their albums. I definitely started dressing a bit "grungy" with the flannels and ripped jeans and grew my hair long with a part down the middle. Thinking back, I was probably part of the reason why grunge died off as I was just a young kid trying to immitate what I thought "grunge" was. As time went on, I became more inclined to listening to heavy metal, though I still listened to a lot of alternative rock and always loved Nirvana.
