PETETHEMEAT | MEMORY FROM 1995 Fear Factory Became my Favorite BandLOCATION: My Ears , TorontoYEAR: 1995TAGS: industrial, roadrunner, Fear Factory, metalPUBLISHED: April 24, 2008I remember buying this album. At first, I wasn't completely into it but after time I absolutely fell in love with Fear Factory. I think part of my logic back then was because White Zombie was my previous favorite band, when they became too popular I had to find something that was more unknown. I remember listening to this album, especially during the winter, huddled in the car with my headphones or in my bedroom when it was cold outside. I became obsessed with Fear Factory for the next two or three years and had several T-shirts. I went and bought their older albums as well and then I remember when the remix album for this came out. I really grew up on a lot of that older Roadrunner records stuff. I remember thinking how cool the old FF logo was with the large red circle, though I could never find one. All the newer shirts had the oval FF logo, which I still thought was cool. To me, there was something about Burt's voice and just the heaviness of the guitars that I loved. He combined a death metal growl with clean singing, which was something I had never really heard before. The industrial element to their music was amazing as well, as I always found there was just so much going on in their music. Like, no matter how many times I listened to Demaufacture in my headphones there was always something new, or a little sound I had never noticed before. "Replica" was definitely one of my favorite tracks, but I think I was always partial to the heavier stuff and the opening riff to this track is just so crushing with that little mechanical 'clang'. All my friends knew Fear Factory was my favorite band, but like most things I eventually grew out of them as I discovered something else. Still, to this day, I have enjoyed the past few FF albums and love the fact that the band is still together.
