It took 17 years, but we did it.LOCATION: The 340 Roadhouse , Charles Town, WVYEAR: 2007TAGS: Little Wing, First DancePUBLISHED: April 3, 2008First time around, my current 'significant other' never got to go out much. I went out, I had turned 21. He went out with me when we could sneak him into a bar because he was only 19. (Yeah, I was a cradle robber...) Anyway, whenever we would go out anywhere, I'd have to dance with my guy friends that were gay, or the other gals in the group because he would never dance. I never knew why, thought maybe he just didn't like to. We'd all ask him and he'd always decline. Bummed me out. Now that we're back together, we went out to see a band a few months ago. He had a few Corona's and apparently was feeling a bit brave. When the band played "Little Wing" I said that it was my favorite Hendrix song. He said 'Do you want to dance?". I couldn't believe it. So, out we went. We had our first dance at 36 and 37 years old. Afterwards, I asked him why he would never dance before. He said he was no good at it, still no good at it, and didn't want to embarrass me. He just did it this time because he knew how much I liked that song. By the way, the dance was great, he's not a bad dancer at all, and everytime we hear this song, we'll dance. No matter where we are or what we're doing, we're dropping everything.
