I am not sure about the song being my absolute favorite, but I do know it left a life-long memory in a bitter-sweet way.  The year was December 4, 2004, the memory was a good friends funeral and the friend was Tom.  My husband and I basically grew up with Tom and he continued to stay in our lives through adulthood as well. He died suddenly from a heart attack.

Tom was a huge Ozzy fan, probably because he was just as crazy as Ozzy! After he died, his family made arrangements for this song "Goodbye To Romance" from Ozzy Osbourne to play at the beginning and end of the funeral service...CHILLING! I have never had a song grab my heart and rip it right out of my body, as this song did at that time!  At first, I thought, "what were they thinking?" then I realized this was a perfect funeral song.  Not only was it the perfect funeral song, but also the perfect song for Tom.  The lyrics grab you and they seem exactly like what Tom would say...from the "other side".

There is a line in the song that says, "goodbye to friends, goodbye to fans...I guess we will meet in the end".  Talk about a balling baby! Yes ME! Today the song is somewhat of a "mystery" in our house.  Occassionally, this song (on our hard drive) will mysteriously start playing. It could be 3:00 AM and all of a sudden, Ozzy is singing goodbye! If there was a way to make this stop, I would be the first one to do it! We never know when the song will just "pop up" but when it does, you can believe it has our attention.  Tom was good at demanding attention, and he apparently still does!

I am hoping that writing this piece, will once and for all be Tom's goodbye.  We love you Tom, we miss you Tom but it is now become a scary song! Go to the light, follow the light...you will like it there!  I guarantee you folks, one listen to this song and you will be strangely drawn to it, just as we were! Leave it to Ozzy to accomplish such a paranormal feel to a simply recorded song.  And for anyoe who knew Tom?  I am certain you will agree with me onthis one.
