Disco Fever!LOCATION: Neighbors House , San PedroYEAR: 1979TAGS: john travolta, 70's, 80's, disco, dance, musicPUBLISHED: March 29, 2008Oh what a memory! My best friens and neighbor Tina, had a birthday party, she was turning 12. Her dad decided to through a dance party with all the fixin's! We had Bee Gee's, Michael Jackson, Robert John, The Carpenters, Led Zeppelin and Simon & Garfunkel. It was the year of the "electric Slide" and the "Disco Fever". None of us girls really knew how to dance, but her dad Mike and his brother Martin, decided to show us how to dance the disco fever. Best time ever! Swing hips while in place, and your arms point up and down, oh yeah! That's how you do it! I think I even learned how to dip and be dipped at that party, except my "dip" resulted in a chipped tooth. We still blame it on too much cake and ice cream causing a weight issue for me! Every single time I hear this song, I get up and point to the air, I am ready to boogie hard. I am a "closet" Bee Gee fan to this day. I love those guys, they just know how to make someone want to get up and dance, shake their behind and wear colorful clothing with tinted glasses. Disco Fever and Staying alive made it's way back to society in the 80's, 90's and even now. John Travolta did an awesome job at "gyrating his hips" in the 1983 movie "Staying Alive" but it seemed that every Actor since then has had an encounter with the famous, never forgotten...DANCE FEVER! Needless to say, Tina's party was a blast, now looked ta as a "blast from the past" but non the less, a blast. I learned how to dance the "dance fever and the disco train, and let's not forget the electric slide. I suppose i could add it to my attempts at "The Irish Jig".
