Where do I start? Well Pantera in general is not neccessarily the memory here, mor of Phil Anselmo is the memory, a memory I would rather forget! I am not only a freelance writer but I am a lyricist as well, bet you didn't even know that little secret of my life.

Well I was pitching my lyrics to every street corner, every musician, every online portal that would listen for 5 minutes. One night, while sitting at my computer, the phone rings and the person or being on the other end was none other than Phil Anselmo!

Phil Anselmo is, no sorry, WAS the lead frontman of Pantera. The legendary heavy metal band took their claim to fame back in the 80's and 90's as a hard core, loud metal band that scared the old farts and pleased the young lost souls of America.

Well I was just a quiet girl from Los Angeles, sowing her roots in the music biz, Pantera was not my gig! When I received this phone call, all I could think about was that I finally got a call (a bite if you will)on my lyrical talents. I was submitting lyrics left and right on TAXI, a musical endeavor of mine. TAXI matches songwriters with musicians, television and film.

Phil had found some of my work on Taxi and Poetry.com apparently and was interested in collaborating with me, possibly. Now, I didn't even know who Pantera was, sorrymetal folks, I really just didn'tdig the screaming "ah" bands (that's what I call them). I asked him to send me a link or sample to some of his stuff, give me a chance to listen to the style in which I may be writing to.

Phil sent me a link to their website, www.pantera.com and as I sat there in front of my computer waiting for a song to load, yes this song, "5 MinutesAlone", I was eager and a bit excited. My first chance at collaborating and with a "real" band!

The song, "5 Minutes Alone" loaded and I swear people, it was my 5 minutes of hell! I actually fell back in my chair from fright and once I realized what the music was all about, I cried. How could my beautiful, deep lyrics be appealing to this monster? How was it going to end for me? A newspaper article that read, "Girl kills herself over song lyrics"? I surely hoped not!

Ok, so let's fast forward, because afterall I never got credit for anything worked on, never became a big giant rockstar nor didI even get to party like a rockstar! You know those T-Shirts that say, "All I got was this lousy t-shirt"? Well that's similar to what I got! All I got was a big pain in the arse from a guy named Phil Anselmo!

For years, yes years, I was harrassed, bugged and followed by this dude. Now what in the world would he want with me? I was a nobody from Los Angeles. I believe it was my non-interest in him that intrigued him, I'm thinking anyway. Ladies? Want to land a rockstar? Just act like you don't give a damn who they are...they will come a running!

Anyway, I refused to hand out anymore lyrics, stopped returning emails, reported the guy and well posted anything and everything negative I could about him. Then I ran across this song and all those horrid memories came flooding back! This girl just can't win.

Well Phil is a big giant...Piece of work! I am keeping it legal, call me slychick. I believe in what goes around, comes around and Phil will be coming around again one day, until that day I am going to enjoy my 5 minutes of peace.
