Oh XM Radio, How I Miss You

LOCATION: My truck, Florida

YEAR: 2008

TAGS: XM Radio

PUBLISHED: January 26, 2008

So I traded my car a while back. I got this steal on it, and it had everything I needed.

Except for XM Radio.

At first this seemed insignificant, afterall, you can just put that in after, right?

Not exactly, as I found out a few weeks later. Not without spending some real money on it.

I decided, I could go back to CDs and regular radio. Isn't that how I had survived all these years?

(Actually, my first car had an 8-track player...)

The issue is this - I don't have any CDs. All my music is on my iPod.

And so I am stuck, mostly, listening to regular radio (gasp!).

Mainly it annoys me. Commercial after commercial.

Today, HELLS BELLS came on, and for a second, in between car dealer commercials, life was normal again.

Thanks for bringing me back 104.5 FM, the ROCK.

We used to play a game where we'd see who could remember the music videos first. Anyway, my favourite soccer pundits have a radio show on Sirius as well. Satellite radio seems to be the place to be. I don't get regular radio reception here (at all) so radio is a rather foreign idea to me. I hate the adverts when I listen to radio stations on the internet. All the choices on satellite are mighty tempting. (Not sure the fees are, however.) Oh--can you get one of those iPod-to-car cables? They have them for tape decks, and for the lighter (like a phone charger). My sister uses it with great results. (1/26/2008)

And it's so nice not to hear someone rushing and desperately trying to say everything they have to say about mattresses or laser hair removal, all spoken over the instrumental intro and stopping just a split second before the first word of the song. I LIKE the instrumental intros! Stop that! (1/30/2008)
