I was into Garth Brooks for a while. I still like him, but I was always amazed and impressed at the simplicity, realness and humor of this song.

I am sure someone else wrote it and Garth Brooks just sang it but it's one of 'those songs'.

It tells the story of how Papa loved Mama, but Mama loved men, and ultimately the impact it had on their truck-driving Papa.

Poor  Papa out there on the road all those days, kept coming home to Mama, (or Mama + friend), and finally cracks up in the end.

Or maybe he came to his senses!

Good song, worth downloading and listening to every once in a while.

Shelley said: I was a big Garth fan for several years. Your post reminded me of when I heard this song for the first time and how surprised I was when he drove the truck right into the house. It is a good song, and though I don't really listen to Garth much anymore, when I do hear one of his old songs I still really appreciate his voice and the style he used. He was just fun to listen to, no matter what he was singing about. (1/30/2008)
