Swans Crossing meets Tears for FearsLOCATION: Childhood home , MichiganYEAR: 1992TAGS: friends, rollerskating, junior high, tears for fearsPUBLISHED: March 10, 2008In 1992 there was this soap opera type show that aired on Television called Swans Crossing starring Michelle Gellar before she hit it big. It was an okay show. I believe it didn't last that long. It was one of those shows that crashed and burned before it barely took off. I remember watching a particular episode that had this unique type song playing in the backround. I was in 8th grade at the time so styles of songs were of course important and if you weren't listening to certain types of music you were not considered cool. Well taking that into consideration I wasn't sure the song I was hearing was cool or not so I secretly liked it. I had no idea who it was or if I would ever hear them again. One evening rollerskating with my friends not too long after hearing this song, it comes on over the speakers. I had to find out who it was so after it was over the DJ mentioned it was by this band called Tears for Fears and the song's title was Everybody Wants To Rule The World. When he said the song came out in 1985 I thought he had to be kidding, I was only 5 or 6 years old at the time. How the hec could I like a song that came out when I was little. To this day when I hear the song I absolutely love it! Their unique style of music and voice is definitely different than that of today.
