High school days can be fun memories but what is better than the memory of your first job? I remember when all of my friends were getting jobs at fast food joints or family resturaunts, I wanted something different. I applied to one of the teen clothing stores at the local mall.

For weeks I didn't hear anything so I figured my chances of getting the job waspretty slim and I just wasn't going to get it. One afternoon I remember getting a phone call. The manager called to ask if I wanted a job. I of course said absolutely and started the following day. I believe I worked 3 to 4 eveings a week and some weekends.

The store was actually my all time favorite store and I was so excited to be getting a job there. It was called DEB. I received 40% off of all the clothes in the store, it was pureheaven for a teenage girl!

Some evenings I would work the cash register and sometimes I would be a greeter on the floors either in front of the store or back in the shoes department and fitting rooms. If I had to work the floors that evening I always preferred the front, that way I could people watch and see what was going on in the mall.

Of course the store would always have a radio playing with all the popular music that teens were totally into. There was this one song that would constantly get played since it was number one I believe at the time. It was by a group called Ace of Base and the song was called The Sign. I absolutely loved the song and could not get enough of it. I believe they had a few hit songs and that was it, we never heard from them again.

Everytime I hear the song which is usually pretty rare, I think of my DEB days. Too much fun.
