It was my junior year in high school when PFR was one of my favorite christian bands of all time.  I was excited to learn that they were going to be in concert at a church near my hometown.  I invited all of my friends to come to this exciting event.

When we arrived at the church, we were surprised at how small the building was, especially to be holding a concert for PFR.  At first our thoughts were, "Are we at the right place"?  Indeed we were.  The concert was going to held in the youth center of the buiding.  We were immediately directed towards the youth center and when we walked inside it was an even bigger surprise.  It was small and there were no chairs.  We would be standing due to the size.  Why would such a small place hold such a big concert?

At first I didn't care, I was so excited to hear my favorite band perform, but as the room began filling up I had my doubts.  At this point we were all shoulder to shoulder.  The opening band Jars of Clay performed. It was great but it was really loud, I had wished I brought ear plugs it was almost deafening.  When PFR appeared on the stage is when the hype began.

It started to get chaotic and ridiculous.  Guys and girls were moshing and body bumping.  The smell of sweat and body odors began filling the air.  My head started feeling like a freight train ran over it.  The concert was just going down hill for me.  To make matters worse, I am slightly clusterphobic so the closeness of the bodies were aggitating and almost a suffocating experience. I couldn't even enjoy my favorite songs.

Finally PFR performed the song Goldie's Last Day.  The atmoshpere finally calmed as they sang this song about a dog that would die in the end.  The dog belonged to one of the band member's. It was a sad song but I remember feeling like it was a breath of fresh air to have everyone finally calm down and the volume of the music not being as loud.

That concert experience was a negative one.  When I hear the song to this day.  I think back to that concert experience.  Since that day I have never been to another concert.
