Dora the Explorer, this name is very familiar with the preschool crowd and their parents. Of course as a parent the name either brings joy to you as you know your child loves Dora or her name just makes you cringe.

Don't get me wrong, Dora the Explorer is an awesome preschool show which teaches not only vocabulary skills but also a foreign language. Espanol! It also teaches music and movement. The theme song always gets my girls going.

I remember when my daughter who is now 5 turned one and my husband and I were flipping through channels getting familiar with any of the early childhood shows. Of course we came across Dora on the cable channels Noggin or Nick Jr. I was pretty impressed with the show the first time I saw it. I thought Dora was adorable but then this slowly started changing. A few times watching her was enough for me. Her little bossy sounding voice was really getting to me. Yeah my daughter learned some spanish through this show but there was just something about her voice that really got to my nerves.

To this day I am still bugged by Dora's tone of voice but I truly love the theme song along with my girls. I am pleased at how much they have learned just from watching her.
