Flight of the NavigatorLOCATION: My childhood home , MichiganYEAR: 1986TAGS: song, Beach Boys, moviesPUBLISHED: March 9, 2008Okay so this is a very cheesy memory of a song related to a movie that I saw when I was a child. The name of the movie was Flight Of The Navigator about a 12 year old boy who loses all sense of time and catastrophes keep brewing making things worse. Anways he takes a journey home on this strange brain shaped looking ship. There are strange alien creatures inside. As they are cruising through the air they are jamming to I Get Around by the Beach Boys. Now I remember before the movie that I really, really liked this song. I thought it was pretty cool. My like for the song ended after seeing this movie. It just didn't fit with the movie at all. I remember seeing it as a teenager and it reminded me all the more what a cheesy fit the song and this movie had together. There was definitely no chemistry at all. Usually movies and certain songs just mesh with each other, this just was not the case. The movie made the Beach Boys no longer look cool and it wasn't even their fault. I still like the Beach Boys and admire all their songs. They are legends but I Get Around is one song that I can do without listening to ever again! Oh well cheesy, movies happen!
