I have mentioned before I moved around a ton in my teenage years. Well on one of those ventures I happened upon a cowboy named Adam and took a shine to him. I hated his taste in music which was nothing but country.

I used to have a saying with my Dad that people who listened to country music were possum eaters.  I made sure to drive this point home to Adam as often as possible during our courtship.  Me and Adam mainatained a relationship throughout our highschool years, despite my endless moving.

One summer, when I was living in Florida, Adam came to visit me.  Amid all of the beach walking, pool swimming, and hand holding, there was movie watching.  I tortured the poor boy with my favorite movie Hope Floats about a million times in his one week visit.  It was nearing the end of his visit one evening when I popped Hope Floats in the VCR.  We watched it again like it was the first time we'd seen it and when Sandra Bullock starts dancing with Harry Connick Jr. and the song To Make You Feel My Love came on Adam stood up in my mother's living room and asked me to dance.

We continued dancing long after the music stopped, probably even after the movie quit playing.  What a dance!

I'll always be reminded of my first love when I hear that song.
