When I was growing up, this was one of my favorite Billy Joel songs. I always daydreamed that someday I would meet a man, and this song would always remind him of me. I fantasized about at man who would look at me that way. Years passed, and in time, I did meet a man. We fell in love and got married. Strangely enough, this song wasn't played at our wedding, and he never once mentioned it as reminding him of me. I still loved the song, but it didn't hold the same romantic notions that it had for me as a kid. Then one day that changed.

During my pregnancy with my second child, there was a chance of there being complications. So I had to have an amnioscientisis. This procedure is very quick, but it can take anywhere from 2 to 3 weeks to get results. It was an agonizing wait. A lot of fear and stress and fear can build during such a long span of time. Finally, I received the call that all the results had come back normal. My baby was healthy. I also found out the other news I had been hoping for, that I was having a girl. I called my husband, and we laughed and cried. The relief was immeasurable.

That day I left work and went to go pick up my son from daycare. As I drove, She's Got A Way came streaming through the radio. Tears began to fall down my face, as I drove quietly, listening to the words. In that moment, I could see my unborn daughters face, and could see a glimpse of the beautiful girl she was going to be.

Months later, she was born. In those first weeks, when she would wake for a midnight feeding, I would sit and rock her, singing this song to her. She's almost three now, but I still cry everytime I hear this song. It describes my baby girl exactly. She really does have a light around her, and there definitely are a million dreams of love surrounding her everywhere she goes.
