My Crappiest Concert Memory

LOCATION: Home , Livermore

YEAR: 2004

TAGS: KISS, Crappy Concert Memories

PUBLISHED: April 5, 2008

I was reminded of this crappy memory late last night while watching a KISSology special on VH1. It's been on my mind all night and all morning, so I thought I'd purge myself of it here.

My son was a little over a year old and we had decided that KISS would be the perfect first concert for him to attend. Sure he was young, but we still thought it would be cool. Besides, he was still under two tears old, and we wouldn't have to purchase a ticket for him if we were sitting in the lawn, which we were planning to. We purchased tickets to go see KISS on Father's Day 2004. I was stoked to be seeing KISS again, and to be taking my son to his first concert.

Right after we got the tickets, to our surprise, I found myself pregnant again. Going to see KISS while pregnant was not an issue to us, so we didn't bother changing any plans. What I didn't plan on was having a miscarriage the day of the concert. Because I had a history of miscarriages, they were tracking my blood levels, and we knew a miscarriage was coming. It just had to happen on the day we were supposed to go see KISS.

Emotionally, going to see KISS probably would have helped. Psychically though, it just couldn't happen. We tried to give the tickets away, but all of my friends that were KISS fans were already going, and everyone else already had plans that day. In the end, I ended up throwing those tickets away. I wanted no memory of that concert that we missed. The only concert tickets I ever purchased and never used. This is the first time I think I've ever told anybody this story.

Less than a month later I became pregnant with my daughter. Fate has it's own timetable I guess. I've still not made it to see KISS since then, and my son still hasn't attended his first concert. So I guess maybe it could still be KISS. Who knows. If it does turn out to be KISS though, I've got the greatest of expectations that it will be awesome...
