Life's Big Moments

LOCATION: The Car , Livermore

YEAR: 1999

Our wedding was a weekend wedding up in the mountains near South Lake Tahoe. It was a weekend affair, well for our guests anyway. We would be continuing up to Tahoe the day after our wedding to enjoy our honeymoon at Caesars Tahoe.

Life's biggest moments can usually be recalled in vivid detail. Graduation, proms, first times, weddings, births, and deaths. Some big moments happen without us knowing it. Liking meeting the person we're going to marry, or when someone dies. They just happen, and our life is forever changed, yet we never saw it coming.

Other memories, like getting married, are the exact opposite. We know that in that moment our life is going to change forever. No matter how the ceremony itself turns out, we know our life will forever be different. That's one of those vivid thoughts I remember having the day before my wedding.

We were packing bags and wedding decorations into the car. We were on and off the phone with parents and the bridal party, to make sure everyone had their tuxes and dresses, etc. before getting on the road (it was a four hour drive). The whole morning I played this song over and over again.

It was so surreal. Looking at my house, knowing that I would be a married woman the next time I was there. I knew that my life was about to change forever. Everytime I hear this tune, it fills me with that same nervous excitement I had that morning. That morning as we packed our car, getting ready to embark on what would turn out to be our greatest adventure.
