Meghan | MEMORY FROM 1989

LA Baby

LOCATION: Dreaming About LA , Livermore

YEAR: 1989

TAGS: LA, Poison

PUBLISHED: March 3, 2008

When I first really started getting into rock, back in the late eighties early nineties, the Hollywood Strip, the Cathouse, the Whiskey, and all those other Hollywood rock landmarks where all I ever thought about. It pains me to admit that I was still playing with Barbies when I got my first Motley Crue record. My barbies were cooler than most though, because they hung out at the Whiskey and dated Bret Micheals and Tommy Lee.

When I purchased Open Up And Say Ahh!, I was 11 or 12 and had this beautiful picture in my head of running away to LA and becoming an actress. I would date a rock star and hang out on the strip all the time. Fallen Angel was my anthem and I would listen to it in my room over & over again. I would lay there planning my escape to LA in my head.

The problem, other than being only 11 or 12, was that my homelife didn't really suck. My parents were really cool, and we lived in a nice house. Nobody beat me, abused me, or treated me badly. Well, if you don't count having to be home for dinner and keep my room clean as being treated badly.

I came to the conclusion that me homelife just wasn't dramatic enough to runaway from. So I started listening to Every Rose Has It's Thorn instead. At least I had unrequited love to lament over. After all what twelve year old doesn't?
