I'm Mad for Mad SeasonLOCATION: My Room , Cambridge, New ZealandYEAR: 2000TAGS: Matchbox Twenty, New Zealand, Bent, homework, memoryPUBLISHED: September 22, 2008I have always been a fan of Matchbox Twenty, even back in the day when my mother probably would have killed me for listening to them since I was too young. Well, SHE thought I was too young. Moving on. In the summer of 2000, I went to New Zealand to visit my dad, taking with me every CD I just couldn't live without like any normal teenager would. This included Mad Season. After the excitement of being in a new country wore off a bit, I settled into my routine of homework, a social life, and time with my dad. School was a lot different in New Zealand than it was here in the States, but when it comes down to it, homework is homework. My step-mother is British, and for those of you who don't know, the British are very strict. So every night, I'd sit at my desk in my room and do my homework like the "good" fifteen year old that I was. I got in the habit of playing music while doing my reading, writing, and arithmatic. Mad Season became one of my must haves during that time. Now, every time I hear "Bent", I am filled with the memories of my experience. I remember the smell of my room. I remember the feel of my room. I remember the little things. I even remember the homework. It's funny how one song can open your mind to things you have forgotten, things you never would have remembered otherwise. It just goes to show you that music becomes a part of you.
