There are quite a few San Francisco bands that I first checked out prior to requesting interviews with them from which to compile my first book. I had only heard one or two songs from most of these bands, but that was enough for me to select a random assortment of various styles and attitudes to give the book variety and cover most genres.

The following year, 2006, I was ready to buy some of the music. I started chasing around some of the band websites, and one of these was Sinister Dexter. My initial reaction was 'Wow! These guys sound just like a modern day Glenn Miller!' I found it intriguing that the dance-band sound was alive and thriving today, especially so when I discovered that their music was mostly original.

When I first played the entire CD, I was delighted. I knew it would become one of my favorite bands. What I did not know, was that my son would actually enjoy the music. Being a teenager, he does not often share his music tastes with me; in fact, he gets quite critical of my music at times. It was therefore quite a pleasant surprise to find him enjoying the new album I had bought.

The song that stands out the most from this disc is Morenita. I was playing the track on the computer as background music whilst working one day, when my son stuck his head into the study. "Hey Mom, you are playing something good for once. What is that?" When I told him it was Sinister Dexter's Morenita, his reply was, "Ah, yes. I remember them. That is the only good CD you have bought since Bill Spooner's."
