madeliaette | MEMORY FROM 1994 Revisiting my childhoodLOCATION: Our Home , Elizabeth, South AustraliaYEAR: 1994TAGS: contest, winner, childhoodPUBLISHED: March 5, 2008In my childhood, my parents often introduced me to various television shows that they regularly watched. Each year as I grew older, I could stay up a little later in the evening before going to bed. Therefore, each year I was introduced to a new round of TV shows. One of these shows was the Eurovision Song Contest. It was only shown once a year, but it was one I truly enjoyed watching as soon as I was old enough to learn of its existence. The first year I watched this event, Save Your Kisses For Me won. I quite liked this song and had actually hoped that it might. My routine soon became to do my own voting each year on a piece of paper, noting down my own scores for the music, lyrics, image of the band, etc. That first year, I just used my head, enjoying some songs and screwing up my young face at others. Although my original memory was from this era of my youth, finding the song re-released on an album just over a decade ago brought memories flooding back to me. I had watched around eight or nine of the contests in total, before migrating away from the UK to live elsewhere. I do not think the show is shown where I currently live, though even if it was, I gave up watching TV a few years ago and no longer have a TV set. I had forgotten the song, band, and Eurovision Song Contest for many years. I recalled having especially liked this song and buying the single at the time, and then hearing a second song by the group before it faded out of view. Spotting the album and the familiar song title in the record store's new music section surprised me.
