One of the first bands from San Francisco that I heard was The Last Of The Blacksmiths. I was starting to take an interest in the area's bands and sampling various links to band websites listed on Myspace profiles, as well as songs played on the Bay Area internet radio station at Halfmile.com. I had suddenly caught the taste for the music from this city and could not get enough of it. I tried this band and that, until four years later, here am I, thoroughly addicted to SF underground music!

The first song I heard from The Last Of The Blacksmiths was Knowing Me. I had snatched up a few dozen free MP3s and created some mix tapes of Bay Area music, because having dial-up, the music did not always come out very well if played online - and I could not afford to buy every band I ever heard of, just to see which I really liked. This song was popped onto one such CD and taken from computer to bedroom hi-fi, where it first entered my ears. Just hearing this one song, I knew the band was worth poking my nose further into. Although I never have become an addict of their music, and I have found other bands I admire even more, I would still like to catch them live some day - and 'knowing me' that will happen!
