My man sings to me

Most couples share a home and bed every night of their lives post marriage. I have never managed to attain such a life - yet. The one marriage I made failed into disaster territory, and all my other partners have been musicians who dwell overseas, so it is more often a pillow or a vacant space that I share my bed with, than a man. For this reason, when I do happen to have my partner within my cuddle-range, the nights really are extra special to me.

I recall one occasion upon which I had just grabbed a new cassette by Wet Wet Wet. I had been playing it several times in order to enjoy the song that I had purchased it for. Suddenly, my man started joining in with singing the song through my open bedroom window, just to let me know that he had come to pay me a surprise visit!

That night, he sung it to me in a whisper directly into my ear at bedtime. This song therefore stands out as a reminder of a precious moment that the majority of people often take for granted. For once, our goodnight was personal, rather than a letter tugging at my heart or a smile at his photo. This night really was a goodnight, though perhaps I was somewhat old to be termed girl!
