I did not hear the song until recently, but once heard it quickly became both appropriate to my life and a favored tune to play. I was yet again poking my nose into various San Francisco area bands and came across The Vanishing on my online exploration - sometimes referable to as networking, otherwise as snooping.

At the time I first played the song, I was working on proofreading and the alignment of a poetry text. I was in a rather pathetic mood, probably magnified by the environment of poetry. I was at a point where I was behaving somewhat in the mode of the title - lovesick. Three of my close friends having stepped away from me a little and my life subsequently resulting in an open-spaced neediness. I was moping about missing my men and their companionship, writing and reading much melancholic poetry, and generally behaving rather youthfully for my fourth decade of life.
