I just cannot singalong

I had only heard one song by the band Astral, when I made arrangements to purchase their album online. I had checked out some photographs and already interviewed Dave for my book, though. I knew the song I had already heard was just my cup of tea - or mug of coffee in my case - and was eager to hear some other work by this band. I was quite excited when the package arrived, as I generally am whenever I get a new CD in the mailbox instead of a bill.

When I first played it through, my initial impression was based on the atmosphere of the sound, more than either the lyrics or the music separately. Although my favorite songs had me drifting along with the pace and melody, I did not really tune in to the lyrics in any song other than Forbidden Kiss for many months.

I must now have played their first album between seventy and a hundred times, but my mind still drifts inevitably into the ambiance and never manages to pick up the lyrics to any other song unless I firmly instruct it to do so and make excess effort. Consequently, I can now hum and la along to the entire album, yet I can not sing along to a single song! I have since made an effort to listen attentively to the words of these songs, but if I am not careful, my mind will still drift off into the music instead. The song Forbidden Kiss stands out even more in my mind, for it is included as a live track on their 2007 EP, which proceeded their second album. Even so, I cannot master the vocals required to sing along.
